The Nejam family first arrived in Jackson, Mississippi back in 1896 and as Waddell Nejam grew up, his love of the Jackson, MS area grew too. Earning a degree from Mississippi College, A. Waddell Nejam began his lifelong dream of contributing to the historic preservation of this great city. The Belhaven area seemed like the perfect location to focus on, mainly due to its proximity to downtown Jackson and other important city locales. Through his business, Nejam Properties, Mr. Waddell Nejam began to acquire residential and commercial properties in the Belhaven and Fondren communities in Jackson, restoring and revitalizing historic properties one by one.
A Commitment to the Community – The Greater Belhaven Foundation Non-Profit
As a part of enhancing the growth of his beloved city of Jackson, MS, Waddell Nejam also founded the Greater Belhaven Foundation with other local contributors. This is a non-profit foundation designed to protect and preserve the historical elements, qualities, and value of the Belhaven area. Some goals of the foundation are to help the neighborhoods of Belhaven and Belhaven Heights with economic restructuring, improving the quality of life for residents, adding green spaces, and preserving the history of the area. Waddell Nejam is passionate about giving back to the residents of Jackson MS by providing safe, comfortable, and family-friendly neighborhoods while preserving the nostalgic feel of such communities.
